I thought about you when I connected planes in SLC on Thursday. I was suprised how warm and un-snowy it was for early March.

I hope you have had a fantabulous Birthday!
1. I think Jon Stewart did a fabulous job. I hope he does it again.

2. I think we will be unsurprised to learn Lauren Bacall has had a stroke or is in early stages of Alzheimer's.

3. I can't think of two actors who could have done as good a job introducing Robert Altman as Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin did. Watching them was sheer delight.

4. It's hard for a pimp.

5. George Clooney. What can I say. I really wish Good Night and Good Luck had won more, I feel so strongly about the power and truth of this film. But my personal feelings about it do not diminish the breadth of good films nominated tonight.

6. Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Dude, thank you for tucking in your shirt and shaving off that half-assed beard.

7. Peter Jackson made me want to watch King Kong. It has all but erased the horrible flash-back memories of the 70s atrocity staring Jessica Lang.

8. Jennifer Garner does a good skid and a better recovery.

9. Will Ferell and Steve Carell's make up artists should have won a special award.

10. My sister makes a great dark chocolate brownie with Hagen Daas ice cream sundae. YUM

(Honorable mention goes to the gaseous bagel dog, who slept sweetly and peacefully between my knees on the sofa while nearly driving me out of the house with his um... 'problem'.)
Found at the end of my Borowtiz Report newsletter I receive each day.

Elsewhere, in an ominous sign that Iraq may be sliding into civil war, Ken Burns and his camera crew turned up in Baghdad today.
