Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!

I'm a total zombie today. I didn't sleep a wink last night, or at least that's how I feel. I have some sort of weird allergy or cold thing going on. I don't feel like I have a cold but I have a sore/scratchy throat and these coughing fits that won't quit. I coughed All.Night.Long!

Hack, wheeze, snort, pathoooie.

I wonder if there's enough coffee in the world today? I hope so.

And, so the long weekend is over and I survived no worse for wear and tear. I had a really nice day yesterday. I must have walked 5 miles, but it was good walking in wonderful weather with great friends. The Mad Scientist, the Mad GirlChild and the Kitten with a Whip joined me for a sunny afternoon down at the Berkeley marina. I hadn't seen the GirlChild in about 4 months. She typically lives in SF with her mom. As she walked ahead of us with her dad, I turned to Kit and said "Okay, so when did the BOOBS show up?!!" I mean, she's NINE! She won't even be 10 until December. Apparently they popped up out of nowhere about 6 weeks ago.

We ate funnel cakes and kettle corn, sipped lemonade, listened to jazz bands and retro-rock bands and strolled in the sunshine. We took her over to the Adventure playground and let her climb forts, hammer nails, saw wood, and paint. Then off for another round of refreshment before we got to the inflatables for kids (bouncy castles, a big inflated obstacle course and a few other things.) We hiked back into town, had pizza for dinner and hiked back down to the Marina in time for the fireworks. We stood high up on a ridge and had a great view of the fireworks in Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley and even a few of the ones from Marin.

I think we all had a lot of fun and managed not to get dehydrated or sunburned. They dropped me at my house about 10:30pm. I took Dorkie Dog for her evening walk and listened to firecrackers going off all around us. They didn't seem to bother her, for which I was glad. After we got back inside there was a rather loud bunch that went off very near by. At that point she sort of jumped in my lap for comfort, but by and large, she ignored the fireworks. I've had dogs in the past that have barked for hours, or huddled under the bed, a neurotic wreck, for hours during 4th of July or thunderstorms. I'm just as glad she's not as neurotic as she used to be.

The cats just ignored everything--they always do.

Work is far too quiet this morning, considering we've been closed for 4 days. Probably just as well since the Co-worker is not in and BossMan leaves tonight for Italy.

I need wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more coffee. And chocolate. I really need chocolate.

'scuse please.
