Also celebrating a birthday today ismysticchyna. She keeps us clued into her world through an incredible eye and camera lense. Check out yesterday's pictures from the county fair. Gotta admire a woman who is happy to swing upside down at a carnival with her inner 8 year old!!

I swear he has some of the most vividly described and richly populated posts I've seen in a long time. I'm constantly drawn in by his writing and it always makes me smile; often he makes me laugh!

I have watched this amazing woman go through hell and back in the past year. From a rushed evacuation in the face of Hurricane Katrina to remaining displaced and adrift through several states as she tried to piece her life back together, balance school, work, being a vagabond...finally as an ex-patriot at school in Orleans, France.
Welcome home hon! New Orleans I'm sure threw you a great birthday bash! May you celebrate many more to come in the city/ies of your choice through a long and exciting lifetime!

A Great Way to Start a New Year

Meanwhile, for me, my New Year's Day begins with a brunch with a the Virgin Airline's pilot at a little micro brewery here in Berkeley. That will be fun! And tonight, Jambalaya and black eyed peas upstairs with Kay and friends.

She's managed to do so with a clear eye, humor, surrounded by a wealth of friends, and with a clear calling as a teacher. This is the type of person you definitely want as a friend and to serve as a guide, mentor, and inspiration to the generations that follow us.
