It's been one of THOSE mornings, already.
Jan. 28th, 2005 08:06 amSigh. It's been one of those WEEKS actually. The week following a full moon, where every annoying twit comes out of the woodwork on the phone at my office and by the end of each day, I'm tried, crabby, and unmotivated.
Last night a new storm swept in from the sea and all night I listened to the sounds of wind and rain lashing against our little cottage near the hills. I do like the sound, especially if I'm cozy and warm inside, which I was...until about 5am when the dog had to go out. I had to dash out in the wet, barefoot (yes, I own 3 pairs of slippers and twice as many shoes--all within easy reach. I know barefoot is my own fault, hush) to clean up after her. By the time I crawled back into bed, I was chilled to the bone in the quiet dark. The rain had stopped, the wind had died down, and now I was cold.
Is it any wonder I slept through my alarm which went off an hour and a half later.
Funny how you know, even if you don't wake, what time it is. I was dreaming, quite actively, about going to work. I sat on the bus, shaking a wet umbrella, lamenting my lateness. I had run out of the house without my raincoat so I could catch the bus. Not only do I not have my raincoat, I look down to discover that I am still wearing my flannel pajama pants and Eddie Bauer henley t-shirt. Lovely. This adds a whole new meaning to 'casual Friday'. But...I REALLY should have realized I was asleep when the very handsome Professor of Law sat beside me (in my pajamas) and starts to flirt with me.
I set a new record this morning. I woke at 7:29 and I'm here, at work at 8am straight up. SHEESH.
More once the coffee has seeped through my pores a bit.
