Now I admit I like blue cheese. I also admit I've been known to rub fresh basil or rosemary on my hands for a sort of natural essence because I love the scent but, THIS is a bit much...don't ya think?

I've been teasing some friends about getting their son an aquarium for his 5th birthday. I think I've changed my mind now.

Careful how you treat your mandables of death! (As Calvin would say).

Time for a pedicure.

They grow up so fast!

Maybe this is why we were always told you give APPLES to the teacher.

and lastly...

Boys will be boys.

I'm so far behind in reading LJ entries ARRG! But while I scramble to catch up I wanted to play the 10 fictional character meme. I was talking about this just yesterday with the Enigma.

"How many movies have John Cusack and Alan Rickman been in? That should be 10." I listed a few of my favorites with Alan Rickman.

"What you don't want him from Dogma?"

"OOOH! I loved him in that movie!" I squealed then said "no, wait that won't work; remember 'Angels are ill-equipped'."

"Oh, right, as anatomically correct as a Ken Doll!"

Of course this whole conversatoin takes place during a high speed walk through downtown Berkeley with us arm in arm giggling ourselves silly. You should have seen the stares!

And so, now my top 10 movie characters:

1. Harry (Alan Rickman) in Love Actually

2. Etienne Navarre (Rutger Hauer) in Ladyhawk

3. Chris Knight (Val Kilmer) in Real Genius

4. Slim (Robert Carradine) in The Cowboys

5. Roy McAvoy (Kevin Costner) in Tin Cup

6. Rob Gordon (John Cusack) in High Fidelity

7. Don Pedro of Aragon (Denzel Washington) in Much Ado About Nothing

8. Dr. Lovell (Liam Neeson) in Nell

9. Nestor Castillo (Antonio Bandares) in The Mambo Kings

10. Benny Pearl (Adain Quinn) in Benny & Joon

WASHINGTON -- The government has abruptly ended an inquiry into the warrantless eavesdropping program because the National Security Agency refused to grant Justice Department lawyers security clearance.

The Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility, or OPR, sent a fax Wednesday to Democratic Rep. Maurice Hinchey of New York saying it was closing its inquiry because without clearance it could not examine department lawyers' role in the program.

"We have been unable to make any meaningful progress in our investigation because OPR has been denied security clearances for access to information about the NSA program," OPR counsel H. Marshall Jarrett wrote to Hinchey. Hinchey's office shared the letter with The Associated Press.
