Post Thanksgiving
Nov. 25th, 2006 10:11 amFriday Morning I woke with the realization that my body had a food hangover. I didn't think I'd had that much to eat but apparently I had.
My #1 gratitude on Friday was that it wasn't Thursday any more.
My #2 gratitude on Friday was pumpkin pie for breakfast :)
My #3 gratitude on Friday was that there was no force in the universe sufficient enough to propel out into the the teaming hoards of shoppers.
No.
EFFIN.
WAY.
I don't think I've set foot in a mall in a couple of years. When I do, typically, it's the Grapevine outlet mall near my sister. Somehow visiting relatives in Texas always includes a trip to a mall. I do try to bite back on my own consumerism gene when possible. I have my gift list set out and I know what I need to get, but most of it will be purchased online, with small, unique things purchased from local craft-meets, small boutique shops here.
I'm lucky, I suppose. I can do that. I don't have kids old enough to clambour for the latest Nike shoes, the PS3, and other things like that. I have found, even with shipping costs, that I can keep with in my holiday budget with online shopping. I have done the vast majority of my holiday shopping online since 1998. No reason for me to quit now :)
Even so, I didn't do any online shopping on Friday! What did I do? Well, I walked the dork doggie for a good hour in the cold sunshine. I conducted a product training with a Canadian client who didn't want to wait until Monday when my office reopened. I cleaned up around here--an endless task. And then
I got.seriously.laid.
:)
It was a very good Friday! I can't complain at all. Left overs for dinner, and a good book and I had a wonderful day.
And now...off to wear out the dork dog on another long walk!
