A Shining, Sunny, Sunday morning

I'm sitting here on my couch in my more or less organized Living room and relaxing over a cup of coffee. The cats are playing, romping back and forth between rooms; a sure sign that they are happy and feeling comfortable. EVERYONE slept like a baby last night, momma included.
I'm still not unpacked and set up, but there is room to move and room to breathe once again. At one point last week I was feeling more cramped than in my old place and I wondered how I could have misjudged the amount of living space in this place. After getting various items in place last night: book cases, the chaise lounge, my bed and end table, I realized I didn't misjudge. For the first time I unfurled the two rugs I had for the living room and bedroom. In my old place these were room sized rugs. Here they look like placemats on the floor. They are as they were meant to be--area rugs. There is plenty of my new laminate floor to show off even with the rugs down.
I'm a happy girl!
I caught Eddie Izzard's Circle on BBC America last night. I own the DVD but it's packed somewhere. So, while I waited for Mike to come back and hang my doors, I sat still for a few moments and giggled over my favorite Action Transvestite.
I look forward to getting the rest of my things unpacked: books on shelves, treasures placed here and there, artwork hung. Then this place will really start to feel like home.
Mind you, I'm still not done yet :) Now that I'm all in...I have to choose a colour and paint the kitchen and the bathroom. I have to find piano hinges and make the screen to hide that atrocious water heater. Then I get to paint and decoupage it with some wonderful photography work from my 2nd boss. Still I look at those as nice, spring time (assuming good weather), weekend projects. And just a few more steps into making this place mine.
I swear to gods, I'm not moving. Not for 10 years. NEVER EVER! (I've heard that before but I'm going to give it my best).
For now though, some reading through news and views, then off to IKEA. Oh, and Kim, Yes..IKEA totally rocks! And to think until 3 years ago I was an IKEA virgin! My sister and I almost went to the new on in North Dallas when I was down there a few weeks ago! She's never been. My next trip, I think, I'll drag her over there.
