OMG what a day :P

First there was the 5am kitty bomb alarm call and the rainy walking of the dog. Then I went back to sleep and was surprised to learn I slept in till nearly 10am. I grabbed coffee over conversation with a few of the LJ boys and then schlepped me and my wheelie cart to BART and down to Hay-weird, to the Target there. I laboriously trudged back with 60 pounds of stuff (seriously). 38 pounds of cat litter, a 20 lb bag of dog food, 2 smaller bags of cat food, plus 3 bags of paper items and pharmacy type goodies. The poor cart was not very happy and I had to be rather careful wheeling it home. That trip took 2 hours. Yes, there are times I really do miss having a car; trudging all that weight home in freezing rain is one of them.

I was home long enough to unload and catch my breath and then back out to Berkeley Bowl. I love that place. I came home with a large variety of fresh fruit, veg, some ground turkey, bacon, kosher dogs, a dozen yogurt cups, soy milk, heavy cream...basically 3 paper bags filled to the BRIM with good food for..$46.00. I honestly don't know anywhere else I can do that.

Since I returned home with those goodies I have cleared out the kitchen, done a week's worth of dishes, started my mock-roasted garlic mashed potatoes, have a pot of turkey chili simmering on the stove, fed myself (which I'd forgotten to do until about 4pm). Cleaned, swept, mopped, vacuumed, hauled out trash and walked the dog a few times!

Now, all I have to do before noon tomorrow is vacuum my bedroom and clean the bathroom and my house will be ready for company! I'm looking forward to brunch with the Mad Scientist and Kit! It has been far too long since I've seen them both! :P It appears that the MS has developed an allergy to wheat or wheat gluten--not sure which, but as he said that now makes him a sucky and problematic meal guest. I insist it simply presents a fun culinary challenge. I suggested rice pudding, fresh fruit and cheese and some non-pancakes I make that are simply whole egg, cream cheese, vanilla, cinnamon and a dash of creme of tarter! He has apparently perfected the art of crepes without using wheat flour and so he's bringing the stuff he needs to make us crepes. I have plenty of fruit to fill them along with ricotta cheese. We can have blintzes!

Sammy cat is a very weird cat. I'm sure you wanted to know that. I sprinkled some of that "Pet Fresh" Carpet freshner on the oriental in the living room and let it sit while I was putting things away in the kitchen. Before I could come and vacuum it up, I found Sammy crouched down at the edge of the carpet licking the pet fresh. I swear that cat is on crack.

I'm exhausted and it's only 8:30pm. Still, I think it's going to be early to bed, early to rise for me tonight, tomorrow. Everyone seems settled in and relaxed today, including me and our new space is feeling more and more like home! A small favor for which I am grateful. Now, if the weather would just make up its mind!
