Oh my, this is what I expect of the Bay Area in Spring and early Summer!!! Cool nights and mornings, warm sunny afternoons, fog rolling in at 4pm when it gets too hot. I LOVE this type of weather. It typifies my little spot on the globe and makes me all happy and gushy inside!!! I love being under dressed in the morning and shivering as I wait for my bus and then over dressed in the afternoon and stand sweating in the sun waiting for the return bus home. I love feeling energized (I'm still waiting on the energy bit but it's starting to return). I love doing errands after work and still having plenty of sunshine for my trip home. I love walking the dork dog at 8:30pm and watching the last vestiges of sunset to the west. I love how the entire neighborhood seems awake and alive. EVERYONE is out and walking about and smiling and saying hello to one another.

This is a great time of year to be here. Yes indeedy!

(Check back with me during the first 95+ degree heatwave. I'll be pissin' and moanin'--trust me.)

I staggered into the office this morning just in time for my 8am training call. I'm in my now usual Spring attire: hiking sandals, sleeveless shirt, an over shirt and jeans. Layers is the rule of thumb here if you don't want freeze and swelter all in one day. It took me a few seasons to get used to that. There's nothing quite like starting a 4th of July holiday with 90 degree sunny weather and ending it with hypothermia because you're on the water, the fog rolled in and it's now 48 degrees with the wind chill! Durrr.

And now, I sit at my desk wishing I could move it outside in the sunshine. I'm taking off a little early this afternoon and heading home to open up the whole house for airing out and some cleaning.

Oh gosh, I'm just *so* domestic :P

For now though, time to go smack some co workers into shape!
The Colbert Report sort of annoys me...I've given it time and I still don't like it as well as I like the Daily Show. However, that said, what Colbert managed to do in his speech at the White House Correspondent's dinner is *PRICELESS!* He skewered the press corps far worse than he skewered the administration.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Morford's article here which contains the links to youtube and the entire speech.

I want to have this man's babies.

I just don't want to have to watch his show every night :)
Frankie & Sammy,

I know you don't like it when I grab you and love on you and give you gushy kisses and THEN I hold you by the ruff of the neck and squirt that cold icky, smelly liquid flea stuff on the back of your neck.

I agree, it's quite evil of me to trick you like that. I'll live with consequences of my actions if you live with yours.

The reason I go to such elaborate trouble to hold you and squeeze this icky, cold, smelly stuff up on the back of your neck where you can't get to it is because you really, really, really, REALLY do not want to lick this stuff off.

1. It tastes terrible

2. If you lick it off it won't work as well and you'll be scratching like hell inside of a month

3. It makes you foam at the mouth

4. Did I mention it tastes terrible?

Frankie you do not earn extra points for encouraging your little brother to lick yours off for you. Nor do you earn extra points by sitting there and licking your paw, looking unconcerned as he runs circles in the kitchen, foaming at the mouth, and trying to get the taste of YOUR flea medication off his tongue.

BAD SISTER no gushy food for you tonight!

Dork Dog

After posting the rant about the cats today...the Dork Dog has had her own day of trials and tribulation. This morning on our walk there was no business being attended to. She wanted to charge down the road for the next 8 miles smelling smells, pulling on the leash, growling at anything that moved and generally just being a butt. After ignoring commands from me to heel, to sit, to potty, I turned her around after 30 minutes and dragged her fat arse home. No potty, no doggie treats. I shut the door to the bedroom and the door to the livingroom leaving her and the cats free to roam the kitchen, hall and bath (all of which have ceramic tile or vinyl floor--easy to clean if you follow my line of thought). Her food and dog cushion are in the large kitchen so she could be comfortable enough.

I got home at 3pm fully expecting to have a mess to clean up. Nope...there were no accidents but Dottie was one ANXIOUS and happy dog when I got home. I immediately clipped on her leash and out we went. She barely made it to the end of the drive before she squatted and peed and peed and peed and peed and peed! We've been out twice since then this evening and the same thing.

I doubt she'll pull the hard headed stunt in the mornings again for a while. Mind you if she had made a mess prior to my getting home she wouldn't have gotten scolded much. I was simply doing damage control. Oh and when I arrived...Sammy was curled up in the middle of the dog bed :) Though I imagine he shared it with dottie, he's nice that way.
