That was a Frigid Friday!
Jan. 13th, 2007 12:22 pmLast night was cold, biting cold. The wind felt like it was driving ice spikes through your face. But, "it's a dry cold." Okay so the wind felt like it was driving DRY ICE though your face. There. Happy? I'm a California climate wus. There, I've said it.
Naturally I was out in this ridiculous cold weather all night last night! I met up with Kit, MS and the MadGirlChild plus some friends of theirs. We had dinner and attended a peformance of The Forest War by the Shotgun Players. I have to say this play exceeded my expectations. It was well staged, the characters well done in the Kabuki style. Make-up could have been a bit more consistent, but the minimal stage set let the characters really come through and while everyone did well, some characters really shined in this production. If you're Bay Area based, I recommend catching a show. They've extended it through the 28th of January.
After I staggered home in the cold and walked the dorkdog, I pulled on the warmest, fuzziest clothes I could find and crawled under as many blankets as I could.
Friday was a pretty good end to my week. A long coffee and chat with the enigma. Dinner and Theater later with friends, a cozy apartment and warm fuzzy furkids to snuggle with. I even spoke with my Dad who sounded very much himself after his angioplasty ordeal on Thursday. He said what hurt the most was when they took all the bandages off. "Didn't they shave you?" I asked. He said that yes they did but they taped him up so thoroughly that they managed to tear any hair on his body right out. I suggested next time he try Nair. I won't repeat his response to that...hee hee.
Today starts my water and juice fast. I did have 1 cup of coffee with no cream this morning and a cup of green tea. Now I'm just sipping down 8 oz of lemon water every hour or hour and a half. I'm looking around this disaster I call an apartment and tackling one room at a time. I'm going to have to fire that maid. I swear there aren't dust bunnies in here, there are dust jack-a-lopes. Oh wait...I *am* the maid. Dur.
Time to clean out the fridge and pantry, inventory them, and make up my shopping list for today's adventure to Trader Joes and Berkeley Bowl. And have some more water.
