aamusedinatxI was mocked by a commuter shuttle this morning as I stood waiting for my connector bus. Yes. Mocked. Oh, I'm sure it was personal; Mondays are always personal. There was a rectangle digital display which kept flashing at me.

It's a "SPARE THE AIR" day. Yes, the Bay Area has decided it feels left out and has joined the rest of the US in its over heated misery. We saw triple digit temperatures in communities just beyond the coastal range. Our wind swapped round and is blowing North and West, bringing with it the heat and dust from the South-east. An off-shore flow as we call it. It blows across us and out to sea and holds our fog and cool sea breezes at bay (no pun intended). But...it's a dry heat. At least the off-shore flow keeps our humidity low, but hot is hot no matter what. So, we 'spare the air'. Public transit is free and typically when they do this ridership increases by a good 10% on those days. All it means for me, who takes public transit each day is I didn't have to start my new monthly pass just yet. Ah well, work has air-conditioning even if Derby Downs does not. However, I do have my lovely, shaded outdoor patio and I have a feeling I'll be spending much of this evening sitting there.
