San Francisco and the Bay Area in general is subject to what we call micro-climates. Down south, where [livejournal.com profile] another_voyeur and [livejournal.com profile] lifehiker live, can run 15-30 degrees warmer than where I am many days. They will have days of clear sunshine, while I'm socked in with fog.

Mark Twain once said "The coldest winter I ever spent was an August in San Francisco."

He wasn't kidding.

Today's high, 78 degrees. I was sweating when I came home. Today's low was 52. This morning the fog was so thick I could barely see across the street. In Berkeley it didn't burn off until nearly 11am. Tonight, at 7pm(ish) it is already streaming in across the Golden Gate. In another hour I will be once again shrouded in damp cool fog.

[livejournal.com profile] minofsin06 sent me this little 'toon and gave me a very hearty laugh in the middle of a very busy day! Thanks Min! I needed that:
