Last night, about 9:30, I took the Dork Dog out for a long walk. She'd been a very good girl all day; staying (mostly) out from underfoot while I was in the kitchen banging around creating 'interesting' smells. (She's soooo food motivated. The primary reason she was really pretty easy to re-train). And so, in my purple flannel PJ pants, a fleece over coat, slip on shoes, assorted treats and baggies, I clipped her lead on and we went for a walk in the night. I wanted to take her on a rather long one, in case I could not take her tonight. Naturally three blocks from home, it starts to rain.

And so, just as quietly as us walking near deserted streets at 9:30pm winter returns to my little cottage by the bay. I curled up to sleep last night to the sound of rain lashing gently against the windows. This morning I woke to the more urgent sound of wind and a downpour.

I sit here drinking coffee as Dottie and I both look out the streaked window at the damp ground, the water running in the gutters. A few people here and there scurrying to get to shelter; some with umbrellas, some without. The cats won't even bother. They're both still burrowed into the covers on the bed.

Once I finish coffee and I get dressed I need to be one of those. As much as I loath the thought of being anywhere NEAR a store on the day after Thanksgiving I want to go exchange this keyboard so I can play with my MAC today...I've waited long enough. Besides. I do OWN an umbrella. I even own boots...if I can remember where those are.

And once I return...and I start my geeking out on the Mac, I promise also to finish organizing my thoughts and narrative about Wednesday for Channel X.

For now though, I'm still drinking coffee and trying to muster both the energy and the mood to head to the bus, my keyboard and receipt in tow.
