The Berkeley FREE Market

After rearranging my living room for the NTH time this week my Mac Mini and the monitor wound up sitting on the floor because I don't have a desk or a free stand any more to put it on. I've been putting off buying a desk because it's just an expense I don't want to deal with. However, with the DIY projects done and the desire to have a party at my house I realized I NEED A DESK.
Looking around I found a few reasonably priced possibilities for a very small desk. However, getting even the smallest one meant I needed to fit it in by getting rid of the bookshelf/divider that I bought last year. I bought it for the cottage and really it only sort of works in here. And it takes up an entire wall. I could be putting that space to better use. I consider getting this...and that...and, as is often the case with me, buying one thing necessitates a big expensive change.
I get paid this weekend and I narrowed down my 'must' purchases for two smaller, narrower profile book cases for about 70 bucks each, and a desk/chair set that could sit between for 219 bucks. I sucked it up and decided I would order them this weekend. I got home last night and grabbed the dork doggie for our usual walk. On our regular route we passed by some junk on the curb: a hideous 1970's spanish style wood coffee table. A metal and wool upholstry office chair that looked like it was from the 50s and a 30" black computer desk with a pull out keyboard tray. ON CASTERS!!
Guess what followed us home. FOR FREE! And slots in perfectly between the entrance to my kitchen and behind the tv stand. Now my computer and monitor are up off the floor and my bright red, nicely small office chair fits up nice against the black desk.
I still plan to get the book cases but I just saved myself well over 250.00 after shipping! :D
